October Poem: October

October’s the month When the smallest breeze
Gives us a shower Of Autumn leaves Bonfires and pumpkins, Leaves sailing down – October is red
And golden and brown.

October Song: I’m a Little Pumpkin

(tune: I’m a Little Teapot)

I’m a little pumpkin, Orange and round. Here is my stem:
I grew in the ground.

When I get all cut up, Don’t you shout! Just open me up And scoop me out!

Happy Fall

Cooler Temps mean warmer clothes. Just a reminder that when sending extra clothes for your child, you might want to consider sending long pants instead of shorts. Please label ALL clothing.

CACFP Forms: It’s time for yearly Food Program forms to be filled out and returned. This is required by the State of Louisiana and must be turned in during the first of October. This form (a blue sheet) must be filled out for all children who attend our center and is being sent home with this newsletter. Please have this back to us no later than October 2, 2023. If you have any questions about the form, please see the front office.

Fall Festival

On Thursday, October 26, we will have our Fall Festival, to be held during school hours. Our Toddler, Twos, Threes, and Four Year Old classes will participate. If you would like to donate candy or small trinkets, they will be much appreciated. Candy should be individually wrapped and we ask that none of the treats be scary or have any skulls, witches, monsters, etc.

Parents …

On Friday, October 27th, we will close for in-service training. We will, however, allow you to bring your child to the Center to catch the bus. You must stay with your child until he/she boards the bus. (Ask us about bus times) The same goes for the afternoon drop off. The bus will come to the Center and drop your child off at approximately 3:30 PM. You must be there to pick up your child as the doors will be locked. There will be no breakfast or snack, nor will there be an open restroom, due to the closure.

Fun Treat to Do with the Kids: Leaf Piles

6 cups cornflakes
1 cup Karo syrup
1 cup peanut butter.

You will also need some Wax paper to lay your leaf piles on.
Directions: In a microwave melt the Karo and peanut butter together. Pour over the cornflakes and place them in piles on wax paper. Let them cool and dry. Easy and yummy!
