Non-Discrimination Policy
It is the policy of Central Early Learning Center that no person will be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
Medication Policy
Medicine will be given as prescribed by your child’s physician. Medicine must be brought into the center by the parent and given to office staff. Do not send medicines in with your child. ABSOLUTELY NO MEDICATION WILL BE GIVEN WITHOUT A COMPLETE AND SIGNED MEDICINE AUTHORIZATION FORM.
There are two different medication forms. The first is the Medication Authorization Form for medications that will be given consistently over a period of time. The second is the As Needed Medication Authorization Form for medications that are given only when needed (example: epi pen or inhaler).
Medication forms must be filled out completely. This includes possible side effects and special instructions. The pharmacy can provide this information when you pickup the medication.
The name of the child receiving the medicine must be listed on each bottle of medicine the child is taking. The center can only give the medication in compliance with the prescription. If the prescription directs the medication to be given twice a day then it can be given at home.
Illness Policy
Parents will be called to pick up children who become ill during the day. Central Early Learning Center reserves the right to ask that a child be removed from the center due to medical reasons restricting the child from functioning in classroom activities or if we feel that our teachers and facilities are not equipped to care for the child’s medical situation. Parents are requested to report any illness immediately to the center office for the protection of other children.
The Louisiana Department of Education’s LA Early Learning Center Licensing Regulations and the Louisiana Department of Health’s Public Health – Sanitary Code requires that a child must remain out of childcare for 24 hour for the following reasons:
- Fever (oral temp of 100 degrees or higher).
- Diarrhea (two or more loose stools).
- Vomiting
Children must be free of these symptoms without medication for 24 hours before returning to the center. This is for the protection of your child as well as the other children and teachers.
The center is a place for well children; please do not send your child when he/she is ill.
Please inform us of any allergies your child may have in case emergency care is required. This includes food, insects, or medications.
Outside Food and Drink Policy
Children are not permitted to bring food or drinks into the center with the following exceptions:
- Bottles and baby food for infants and food prepared for children under the age of one (1) who cannot eat table food. Parents are responsible for providing formula and baby food for infants. Children’s initials should be written on each bottle, bottle top and baby food container. Bottles cannot be stored at the center and therefore, must be brought to the center and returned home each day.
- Children on therapeutic diets prescribed by a physician or those adhering to special religious diets may bring their own food for meals and snacks. A signed note outlining the diet specifics must be on file.
- Refreshments for special occasions such as birthday parties and holidays with approval from the director
Glass containers and gum are prohibited at all times. Candy and soft drinks are not allowed except for special events with the director’s permission.
